The Denver Aquarium, Casabonita, IKEA and a walk to the park
Sunday we decided to spend the day in Denver. The drive was just about an hour maybe hour and a halfish from my aunt Phyllis's house. We decided to go to the Denver Aquarium. There aren't any around where we live and we heard the Denver one was a must see, and after going I can say it was definately worth the trip. I was so impressed with all of the atomosphere. The aquarium was more than just fish, it was a complete experience. Both Max and Alex, and actually all of the adults had a fun morning at the aquirum. After the aquarium we headed to Casa Bonita. We knew the food might not be the best, but we all hadn't been in so long and again...we knew the kids would love it. The Denver Casabonita actually has divers that dive into a pool of water about 2 stories high. They are pretty entertaining to watch. They also sell light up swords, etc so of course we had to get each of the boys one - that they still play with until this day. Casa Bonita was pretty good, we only had one little complaint about everyone having to order a meal (way way too much food) and having to balance a heavy hot tray all the way to your table with two kids - not easy....but all in all a fun trip. After Casa Bonita we went to IKEA!! I was excited to go. We actually didn't buy anything at all, and didn't go up on the top floor because you couldn't bring a shopping cart, but now atleast I can say I have been to an IKEA store now!! woohoo!!
Below are some pictures of our Sunday in Denver
The boys ready to head to Denver
The view from the car. I love big cities. To visit them atleast, never live there (fingers crossed)
We all took pictures at the Entrance waiting for it to open
Max entering the aquarium
Phyllis and Max trying to find Denver on the map
The first fish we saw. He was so excited. Little did he know how many fish he was about to see.
He was trying to tell his little brother everything about the fish.
His souvienir from the day - an explorer hat my mom bought him. He looked so cute in it, and actually wore it the entire day.
I think the picture below is right before Max walked into a "Thunderstorm" reinactiment. He got a little wet, and a little scared, but provided everyone with a good laugh.
Max, Mike, and Alex watched the divers in the tank.
Alex looked so tiny next to this HUGE fish
I thought this was a cute picture - it's Mike and Max in the globe inside the tank.
Thinking about touching the starfish
He actually touched it! I didn't think he would
The last exhibit was the shark exhibit. Max had been waiting and talking about sharks the whole time. I love that Mike got some pictures of Max seeing them for the first time.
Here is us at Casa Bonita - Alex has his light sword - that we still play with daily
Max is walking to the park with his light sword.
Perfect way to end a perfect day - with a beautiful walk looking at this sunset.
