Saturday was zoo day. I was so looking forward to this day and so thankful the zoo evacuation got lifted the day before so that we were able to go on Saturday. We had an incredible at the zoo. We fed giraffes, we fed birds, we fed chickens (sort of). We saw hippos, monkeys, a big moose and penguins. We road a carousel, we walked by a peacock, and even road a ski lift over the animals. To finish out the zoo trip we took a drive up to the Will Roger's shrine of the sun and got a beautiful view. We ended the day at Aunt Phyllis's house. She had friends over and cooked a homemade lasagna that was absolutely delicious. What a fun Saturday it was. Below is the day in pictures.

The boys before the zoo. Yes, the boys had matching outfits a lot. Some of that is me, some of that is Max wanting to wear the same stuff as baby.
Max got to be a big boy and sit in the back by his daddy. We had my parents car packed! It was fun to all ride together though.
The crew ready to tackle the zoo!
Feeding the Giraffe's
Feeding the giraffe's is by far the best experience at the zoo. The giraffes come right up to you and they are all around you. In the morning, you feed the lettuce. It was fun to feed them myself, and also see the boys reactions to the giraffes.
Max got to ride a choochoo train at the zoo. He loves trains so that was pretty fun for him.
The ski lift
They have a ski lift that you can ride that goes up and down the mountain over the zoo. We were excited to go. We decided to let Max join, and held him so tight. He had more fun that us! The views you get are at times a little scary, but so worth it.
mom and phyllis took this picture of us ( and yes Mike is taking a picture of them at the same time)
Mom offered to watch Alex while we took the ski lift ride. It was so funny because we actually road over her at one point, and we notice she is texting on her phone while this peacock is walking towards the stroller! We were saying - Vee!!! Watch out for Alex! haha...we finally got her attention and she laughed and said she had it under control. Mike still wasn't convinced she saw the peacock. Do you see how close the peacock is to Alex int he stroller? It was quite funny.
the view was a little scary on the way down, but beautiful
Playing at the park in the zoo
Dip N Dots - We walked by them, Max said please, and I couldn't say no. It was a hot day so a little bit of icecream was exactly what we needed. All 3 boys, it was their first time for dip n dots ( I included Mike)
Feeding the Birds
Feeding the Birds was a neat experience. It's definately something you don't get to do everyday. You just hold your food out on a stick and they eat it off of the stick. It wasn't quite as easy as it sounds, but it was fun, and I finally got 2 different birds to eat all of my seeds. Max definately thought it was a cool experience.
The otters were pretty neat to watch. We sat here in the shade a while and watched them do flips.
This peacock was just strolling right by us in the middle of the zoo!
One of Max's favorite animals at the zoo - the Hippos.

Feeding the Chickens
The Will Roger's Shrine of the Sun
It's located at the very top of the zoo. It's a beautiful drive ( my mom would disagree due to her fear of heights). Mike wanted to drive up there, so we all thought it would be fun. We got some awesome pictures......after a 10 story hike.
