Bye Bye Tonsils and Adenoids

Bad Allergies, Severe Food Allergies, Snoring, loud breathing, ear infections, picky eater....and HUGE touching tonsils.  In July we finally decided it was time, we scheduled a date, July 23rd to get Alex's tonsils and adenoids out and have a hold drilled in his inner ear to hopefully drain out some fluids that had been stuck and getting infected to avoid getting tubes.

We stocked up on Dairy and egg free options for in the hospital and when we got out

We shipped Max to Grandpa and Grandma's and we spent the evening spoiling Alex the night before his surgery.

He couldn't eat after midnight so we filled him up.  Popcorn at 9pm?  sure

MiMi met us at the hospital the morning of the surgery and held Batman, I mean Alex.

Alex got gowned up and even got a teddy bear from the nurses

Waiting patiently with a 3 year old isn't the easiest thing to do.  MiMi blew up some gloves to make balloons to help pass the time.

Alex went back to surgery.  We waited, and waited.  Luckily we got to wait in the Ronald McDonald room in the 3rd floor at the hospital.  I felt like I got the VIP treatment.  It was so nice.  I would 100 percent recommend this hospital to anyone in NWA who needs a scheduled surgery.

Finally they came and got us in the waiting room and told us Alex was awake, everything went smoothly, and he was being brought up to the room.  We raced to the room and beat him there.  He wanted a big long hug from MiMi when he arrived.

Its tough to see your little boy in pain and not feeling well.  he was a trooper.

Mike took the day off work.  I was so thankful for that.  Alex and him looked out the window a lot together.

We had a DVD player in the room, so we let Alex pick out any DVD he wanted to watch.

Max and Grandma came to visit!!!!  Max brough Alex a card and a surprise.  It was so sweet.

Alex really never stopped eating or ate differently.  He wanted a banana in the afternoon and we said sure!

Max did good at keeping his little brother company and playing with him.  Pictured here is a Mike the Knight that Max bought Alex and a tigger that MiMi brought Alex

Me and Alex who wouldn't smile.  Can you see all the balloons Grandma brought him?!!!

Here Max and Alex are playing with a surprise from Grandma

Wagon ride time!!!  The boys loved this, and it got Alex out of the room.  The staff was so friendly and helpful.

Hanging out in the hospital room with Alex's new favorite sippy cup from the hospital

Grandpa came to visit too!

Alex wanted to be rocked by his Grandma.  Long day, this boy needed a nap

soup, applesauce, and a banana for dinner

awesome balloon from Grandma

suggles with daddy

spoiled with dairy free icecream

Mike headed to work late, Max headed home with Grandma and Grandpa....me and Alex decided to snuggle and watch a movie.

That night was probably the longest night I have ever spent in a hospital.  Alex was in a lot of pain and woke up often and their wasn't a lot we could do.  They finally ended up giving him some morphine.  We even had a midnight wagon right. We made it through the night with little to no sleep....and were excited when breakfast arrived in the morning!

Guess what happened next?!  We got the ok to come home!!!  We couldn't pack quick enough.  We were super excited.

Lonnie our neighbor came by and brought Alex AND Max a get well surprise.  Cars and Turtle bubbles.  Thank you Lonnie and Alice.  That was so sweet of you.

This is a picture me bribing Alex to take his medicine.  that was not an easy task

yes, we even PAID him once to take medicine.
Lots of icecream.....and never too far away from his hospital cup

Thank you everyone for your get well cards!!!!

About 2 weeks of recovery, but we made it out and are better because of it.  Alex eats better, he sleeps better, breaths better, and hasn't had an ear infection since the surgery.  We're very thankful we decided to have the surgery.  Glad thats behind us!!!!
